The Benefits and Disadvantages of Technology in Education

Technology is the application of scientific knowledge to the practical aims of human life or, as it is also phrased, the change and manipulation of the environment. It is the means as well as the end; it both creates and enables knowledge, and therefore it also shapes culture. It is present in the sublime of planetary science as much as it is in the mundane act of changing a gear while driving a car.

Technology makes education more accessible to everyone and helps to increase the overall quality of the learning experience. It is easier for students to access a huge variety of educational materials such as scientific articles, research papers, educational videos, tutorials/guidebooks and informational websites on their laptops or mobile phones. This enhances the student’s knowledge base and makes them self-sufficient learners.

It also allows students to take part in interactive lessons such as virtual field trips and other online resources that make the learning process more interesting. Students can also work with other students from different countries to collaborate on projects and improve their communication skills.

But it is important to note that this new technology comes with a few disadvantages. The most obvious one is that some jobs may be replaced by software, which can cause a lot of anxiety and stress amongst workers who fear their jobs will be taken by robots in the future. But despite this, the benefits outweigh the negative effects in terms of increasing the efficiency and productivity of businesses.
